Alice Maksim is a board certified Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC III), a Master Addictions Counselor (MAC), and a Certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Counselor (EMDR). Alice provides contract services with Elliant Counseling Services in Centennial, Colorado. She obtained her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Regis University in 1999 and has an undergraduate degree in business management from the University of Phoenix.

Alice specializes in trauma therapy with children beginning at age six and with adults spanning through their senior years. Alice offers office, community and home outreach services. Alice’s work with clients includes: Gestalt Therapy, Trauma informed therapy, EMDR, Animal Assisted Interventions, Art, Play Therapy, Somatic Experiencing and Sand-play Therapy. Alice is trained to assist children, teens, groups and families with a variety of concerns including: alcohol & drug abuse, chronic pain & illness, depression, stress management, anxiety & panic disorders, family reunification, ADHD, mood swings, loneliness, self-defeating behaviors, child abuse / neglect, sexual abuse, anger management, grief and personality / relationship conflicts. Alice specializes in post-traumatic stress from employment, accidents, joint replacements, domestic violence.

Alice has a warm, positive, playful demeanor. She believes in the human potential for emotional, physiological, and mental growth, healing and behavioral change. Alice works with her clients to establish treatment goals that are unique to their specific needs.

In addition to providing specialized skills in trauma recovery, Alice utilizes a support animal, Olivia, to facilitate further regulation and comfort for her clients. Olivia has received specialized training to become a therapy animal. She is hypoallergenic, with a sweet nurturing presence.

In her free time, Alice enjoys long walks, singing in a choir and spending time with her family and friends. Alice enjoys the Colorado mountains and spends time camping and fishing with her husband and Olivia in the summer.
