Carrie Brown | Trauma & Client Centered Therapy

Carrie is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and earned a master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance with an emphasis in Mental Health from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 2004; and   completed her internship at a domestic violence Women’s Shelter in Kansas City.  She is a trauma-informed therapist.

Carrie has experience working with adolescents, adults and families in a private practice setting.  Prior to private practice, she worked as a mental health counselor at an Aurora high school.  She has also worked for Griffith Centers for Children.  Areas of her practice include anxiety, depression, abuse, parenting challenges, women’s issues, healthy family functioning, anger and trauma.

Carrie’s work is informed by a combination of approaches including trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy and client-centered therapy.  Carrie is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and Brainspotting. She believes that while our circumstances and stories are varied, we are all seeking connection, understanding and relief.  Victor Frankl’s words underscore Carrie’s work: “Between stimulus and response there is a space.  In that space is our power to choose our response.  In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

Couples, families, adults and adolescents welcome.
