Kathy Johnson | MS, LPC

Kathy has provided counsel in the Denver area for almost 20 years. She has an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a graduate degree in Counseling & Guidance, specializing in Marriage & Family Therapy, both from the University of Wisconsin system. Kathy has owned and operated counseling centers in both Wisconsin & Colorado. She was a partner in a WI State certified Mental Health and Outpatient Alcohol & Drug clinic for thirteen years. We had a major focus on personal mental health in addition to State contracts for our ‘Parenting and Family Reunification’ program, DUI programming, and a Criminal Thinking program in a minimum security prison. Kathy focuses on individual and family mental health services. Kathy had certification as an Alcohol & Drug Counselor, CADCIII, in Wisconsin and the Domestic Violence Intervention Program through the District Attorney’s office in her County. The program had one of the lowest recidivism rates in the Country. Kathy further has training as a Mediator and a Child and Family Investigator.

Kathy’s areas of expertise include family & relationship issues; women. & adolescent issues; mood & anxiety disorders; attention deficit; identity issues; substance-related concerns; post-traumatic stress; grief work, in addition to issues of abuse. She utilizes an eclectic approach, which means using the theoretical approach that works best for that specific individual, couple, or family. Kathy believes that ‘we all have times in our lives when we need perspective and insight beyond our own.’ I am honored and find it very rewarding to be a part of someone’s journey.

Kathy rescued CeeCee five years ago, and they have worked diligently to decrease CeeCee’s anxiety disorder responses. She has come so very far! Kathy & CeeCee love taking power walks. CeeCee and Kathy both truly enjoy their clients. CeeCee especially loves it when a treat comes her way. Kathy additionally enjoys reading, gardening, biking, and taking long walks on a beach.
